who has crazy hair?!

ha, ha, major bed head this morning. it took me two rounds of wetting and brushing his hair to make it look somewhat normal again. his hair looked like it was teased up. i told him he looked ready for a high fashion runway walk.

this morning he ran into our room and said what i thought was, "want crack!" i looked at him confused, i was stumped. what?! he repeated himself and pointed at my clock. oh, clock!

"green car!"

oh boy, 50 stickers already! it should actually be more since we haven't been consistent with giving him stickers every time he goes to the bathroom. he seems to be pretty self motivated, which is great! i think it's almost time to switch up his sticker rewards to other stuff we want to encourage him to do.

a new view

this is what we're seeing a lot of the last few days... his pants are now low riding since he's been wearing underwear. i think it's funny and cute. he's so proud of wearing underwear that he'll flex in the mirror wearing them. he'll also pull down part of his pants to show them to you. we try to tell him that's only ok to do at home, but not when we go out!

"more smile with baba?" he asked me another couple of times to take another photo of him and baba.

mmm... mien mien!

i've been craving ramen. strange since it's been so hot. but we made a mini outing of it and also stopped by a yummy bakery. we used to go almost every saturday after nj's music class. he still talks about music class, which is cute. he says, "want to go to music ah-ee!" and on wednesday this week he said, "want to see ah-ee and baby connor." awww. well, it was nice to get out once again. i'm feeling more comfortable with it. nj was good even sitting in a chair, no high chair, no booster seat. it's fun to be able to take him out without much hassle. while in the car, he said to me, "penguin's hot." huh? then i remembered he has his little stuffed penguin with him in the cup holder. i asked him, "penguin's hot? are you hot?" he said yes. he has a strange way of telling us! i guess he wanted the a/c turned up! And during our car ride, he kept pointing out tinted sedans and saying, "limousine! that one, mama! that one limousine!" i told him over and over that those weren't limousines, that we would point one out when we saw one. but he persisted and finally i started saying, "no baby, that's not a limousine." he'd say yes and start giggling. i'd say no, he'd say yes, i'd say no and so on... all the while laughing more and more. he just felt like being silly i guess!

some family time

surprise! we got a visit from ah-ma and gong-gong (grandma and grandpa), and from baba's aunt and uncle from the philippines. it was so nice of them to come visit before heading home again. they brought lots of gifts and goodies for us, especially for nj. thank you, nj enjoyed your visit! we also got a visit from uncle jason who also brought lots of goodies for us. thank you and it was nice to catch up a little!

"dotty sit! sit! sit please!"

nj loves giving dot dot treats. this time i asked him to tell dot to sit before giving her a treat. didn't quite work, he'd tell her to sit as he gave her the treat and kept repeating, "sit, sit, sit!" even as she's rapidly chomping on her chicken jerky.

nj loves to name off things and people to pray about. it usually includes gabby, cameron, ah-ma (grandma), mama feeling better, and for Jesus' protection (he says it in taiwanese). there was a short period of time where he'd wake up crying for baba in the middle of the night. it was back when i was more sick. so we tried to teach him that Jesus is always with him, there's nothing to be afraid of. so he says it to himself before going to bed. the last few nights, he's been praying for koda, uncle perry, and auntie karen. their poor pup is sick and not feeling well, auntie and uncle are sad. we are all praying and hoping for the best for him.

kids eat free at curry house!

i went out for the first time to meet a friend for dinner. why not? i was feeling pretty good after a long day at clinic. and how can i pass up curry house with nj eating for free? thanks for the invite, auntie janell (and happy belated too)! nj seemed so happy to have his own plate of food for himself. he picked out what he wanted on the menu... he did a good job too considering how much food was on that plate! spaghetti, meatballs, corn, fries, a fried shrimp, cream corn soup, and a slice of orange. baba asked if he could have his fried shrimp, and he said no! hee, hee, hee, made me laugh. we kept asking him if he was done yet and he'd shake his head no. it was really cute how much he enjoyed it. he had a bulging belly that hung over the belt of the highchair by the time he was done. yikes. nj was so good throughout dinner, it let us have actual conversations... something we forget about after having little ones!

awwww...

a hug goodbye turned into a longing stare as well! we all thought he was going in for a kiss! ha, ha, what a funny guy. it was really sweet and funny.

"want mavilla. baba eat peach yogurt!"

bossy little guy. every morning he gets yogurt as part of his breakfast. baba takes it, opens it, and eats a bit off the top so that nj can eat the rest (otherwise, he can't finish). he does this around the corner, but today baba was called out by nj. he said, "baba eat mavilla over there. now baba eat peach." we looked at each other a little shocked. ha, ha, he knows that baba's eating some of his yogurt first! oops... well, he doesn't seem to mind that much.

twice today i helped him to go pee. first time, he usually goes running to baba. but it's good to know he's ok with me helping too. i don't want him to only rely on baba to go to the bathroom, otherwise, we might be in trouble. funny, i didn't realize at first that i needed to help him aim, so the first time required a little bit of wiping up. oops! shows how much i know with what i'm doing!

"baba's funny!"

he said this to me today during breakfast. baba does know how to make him giggle!

"ji-yung carry..."

"mama carry, it's heavy!"

he proudly carries his bag whenever he can, he loves to help us with carrying stuff. but today, a few steps out the door and he stops me to hand me his bag. that's never happened before!

"dragon, no more."

some days he'd still talk about wanting to go see the dragon (it was a giant inflated one at a furniture store parking lot). today, as we passed, we all looked, but it wasn't there. it was a lump of deflated green, half way stuffed through a large doorway. nj looked at me and said, "dragon, no more." i thought for a second he might cry, he looked so sad. i told him dragon's not there anymore, but it's ok. he said, "see dragon another time?" i said sure, we can see the dragon some other time, some other place maybe. and then he moved on to naming all the cars that passed us, "mercedes, toyota, honda, acura, nissan!"

happy dance...

nj grabbed his new hat and excitedly did his little happy dance. I've been trying to record it, but hasn't quite happened.

"mmm, so good!"

ha, ha, something he's been saying. just before lunch, i got a little shaky and checked my sugar... 65! so i got out some crackers to hold me over. he must've been hungry too. usually i don't give him anything before meals, but he's been so good. i figured it was only fair. it made him so happy!

we had some visitors today, we had sandwiches and boba together! auntie was nice enough to read a story to the boys. they're so cute together.

such a happy eater

he was a good eater all day today. no fuss at all over anything. i made some ramen with string beans and some turkey for me and nj. baba was making a steak for himself. he finished his food before i did! baba asked him, "you want anything else?" nj says, "steak." ha, ha, this kid knows good food.

show mama...

nj runs to me excitedly and shows me what he has in his hand. earwax, eeew. baba had dug some out, i guess. that's a first! he kept talking about his ear after that.

"thank you, mama."

what a sweetheart, i love him! i made some french toast for us this morning. during breakfast, he said to me: "thank you, mama" and "yum, yum!" he ate it all nicely like a good boy, so we gave him a sticker for being a good eater.

new summer hat

i was just thinking how he doesn't have a hat for this summer... and he gets one as a gift! he's been such a good boy, we're impressed! ha, ha. he's extra fun and enjoyable. if only i had more energy to play with him better. the underwear is still working for him, he had one accident yesterday, but it's the only one so far. we're proud of how well he's doing with keeping up with going to the bathroom.

before his nap, nj asked baba to pray for mama's surgery. baba told him that the surgery is over and mama's getting better now. so before bedtime, he said it taiwanese, mama's surgery is over. i almost cried to think that my son would be concerned for me and still talk about my surgery. i don't want him to worry. but baba says he seems really happy that i'm back home. i know i'm incredibly happy to be back home spending time with my two favorite boys.

another 10 stickers already! we have to make it more, he's earning them so fast. he loves his cars!

just being silly...

it amazes me at how well he adjusts to change and doesn't have anxiety over what's going on around him. although last night, he woke up crying for baba. he went to check on him and through his cries he could only make out nj saying something about mama at ucla. the next morning he (baba) told me that maybe he had a bad dream about me not being there. i've been home only a few days, maybe he's worried about me going back to ucla again. poor guy. at least he doesn't seem the least effected as he runs around playing like the silly little boy he is! it always makes me so happy to see his sweet smile. especially now that it's normal!

afternoon wedding

baba's cousin got married today! what a beautiful wedding, nj met lots of relatives and got to spend some time with ah-ma and gong-gong too. he was such a good boy, he didn't talk much during the wedding (if he did, it was quiet) and didn't cry. whew! it was quite warm out, but there was a nice breeze at least. he really loved his little baby second cousin. he kept looking over and going over to be near her. she'd throw her binky out of the stroller and he'd get it (several times), he even tried very hard to kiss her. it's really cute how he loves babies, he'll make a good big brother.
