Baby Shower with the Whole Family

Every time I turned around NJ disappeared to the dessert table! He was picking what he wanted, staring at the sweet treats, or just standing there. I can't account for how many desserts he managed to consume!

The boys enjoyed their lunch. We had a talk with NJ in the car about how we didn't want a rowdy boy running around at nice proper baby shower. We reviewed manners and being a good listener. I was nervous about him going to his first baby shower. He wasn't sure what it was. He asked all kinds of questions and said interesting things...
NJ- "Where's the baby?"
Baba- "The baby's in Auntie's tummy."
NJ- "Then the baby will come out?"
Baba- "Yes."
NJ- "Now? Today?"
Baba- "No, but soon."
NJ- "Will it hurt?"
Baba- "Probably."
NJ- "Will she cry?"
Baba- "Maybe."
NJ- "Oh."
I later heard him say, "Soon Mama will have a baby too and I'll have a brother or sister."
I hope he doesn't go around telling that to people. It would be nice to give him a brother or sister, but it's a bit more complicated than that.
The lovely mother to be. Great shower celebrating baby, mommy, and daddy.

Starbucks and Lego Store

It was funny to see the kids sit around in their chairs outside a coffee shop. I imagine them as little adults. And I wonder if they'll grow to still be friends and meet on their own outside of us- their moms and dads. They're a funny bunch, I do hope they develop their own relationships as they grow. Maybe they will even help each other through life the way we do.

We all equally enjoyed our time browsing through legos today. Mama and Baba had own crafty ideas to fulfill. NJ also chose a few bricks to add to his lego builds.
Baba is like a kid that's just raided his candy loot. We're dreaming up ideas on what kind of party favors we can make with these. Hopefully we can make them before NJ finds and steals them. We had a nice night out as a family.

Piñata Picking and Owie Healing

We love this place, it has everything! The best selection of piñatas I've seen, Baba's favorite mexican candies, and a fun selection of party stuff. NJ insisted on this one with finn mcmissile. I'm surprised since there were also star wars and lego ones. NJ had tripped and fell after school and scraped up his hand and arm pretty bad. Poor guy was crying hard in the car. He wanted us to clean it up right away. But he knew we were going to get a piñata. Baba asked him, "Do you want to go straight home or do you want to go get the piñata?" He chose piñata even though he wouldn't stop crying and saying how much it hurt. As soon as he was given the choice he almost immediately calmed down. We kept asking if he was sure and if he'd be ok. He said, "Yeah, I'm ok. I want to go, I can wait."

His bloody owie. Poor guy. Still surprised he wanted to go get the piñata.

Baba cleaned it up and drew on his bandage to make it cool.

He even drew a heart with mom in it and an arrow through it.
NJ went through some of his sight word books and read them to us. Glad he's feeling better.

Blood Drive at HOPE

We went to visit our church's blood drive headed up by a friend of ours. We weren't there very long and didn't quite help much, but it was good to be there. I hope to be a bigger part of it for the next one. It was great to see how many people came, some that stopped just from driving by. I've been helped and saved by blood more times than I can count. It was nice to see the giving as I'm part of the receiving.

Tree Trimming and Wood Chipping

When NJ got home from school he loved watching the guys feed the wood chipper. there was plenty to watch. I convinced him to go inside to put his stuff down and change. He was so fascinated we stood there for a while.

NJ got changed, got a snack and some water, and I gave him a chair. The show has begun right outside our door.

Even Dot Dot was interested in all the noise.
NJ was outside for a while. Long enough for us to enjoy the beautiful sunset.

While NJ was at school I got some work done. I could bring out my computer, do some printing, cutting, hot glueing, and whatever I needed to without having to wonder if something's missing. It's been a long time since making a diaper cake, I really could have used my best friend's help. She showed me how to make them.
NJ was so quiet and played on his own. I kept finding him some place new doing his own thing. Building tracks, studying his lego instructions, putting together a puzzle, and drawing. It's so sweet to see him happily playing and keeping busy. We'd peek in on him and sit with him to talk to him and join him in what he's doing.

Yesterday we found this chewed up package in our room. Dot Dot is so sneaky, mischievous, and naughty! I hope she enjoyed it because this can't be a habit! At first I thought for sure it was NJ that got into it. He's always scavenging for snacks, candy, and treats. Funny how they are alike in this way. NJ and Dotty should team up and get more done, but don't tell him I said so!
I spent the day on the road for connection. I got to visit another adoptive mommy friend to talk and share over lunch. I wish we lived closer to get together more often. But it makes it all the sweeter to connect and there's always prayers of them that we carry with us. I also got to visit another mommy friend and her newest family member. Such a sweet snuggler, I didn't want to let him go. :)

I couldn't resist taking a photo before going into church this morning. NJ looks so nice in his sweater, new shoes, and new haircut. He's always excited about going to HOPE, I love that.

Boys all dressed in green.
