what's this? what's that?
oh dear, it's already started! so far he doesn't really expect an answer. i think he must have picked it up from other kids. but i'm not looking forward to when the questions really begin.
what's wrong with this picture?
there's ice cream on a stick next to meat on a stick! who thought that was a good idea? well, it stopped us in our tracks and i had to take a picture!
we took a trip to sam's club and albertson's to stock up on stuff. we passed a small display of mini tubs of ice cream. nj said, "want that". baba said to him, "you don't even know what that is". that's what we usually say to him to get him to stop thinking about it. his response was, "i want ice cream" while pointing at it. ha, ha, i guess what we say won't last for long.
"mama, ha-choo!"
yes, all thanks to you, nj! today he kept saying, "mama sick and ji-yung sick and baba sick" thank goodness baba is actually not sick.
"kick the dotty" i told him, "you can't kick dotty!" he laughs and says, "don't kick dotty" he doesn't like it when she gets up on her hind legs to get closer to his food. but sometimes if she's lucky, she gets something that nj doesn't want. and i have to tell him not to feed her because our food's not good for her, she might get sick.
"i want more water please" and "mama, i don't want anymore pizza". he must have learned: "i want" and "anymore" at the birthday party or toddler room. this is the first week we've been hearing these.
"wipe on baba's shirt" he decided to wipe his snot on baba's shirt. gross! there was snot on his shirt and his arm. he went to change right away. we asked him, "why did you do that?! that's yucky. he just giggled. he just thinks everything is funny.

"want band-aid"
nj showed me his little owie on his thumb and kept asking for a band-aid. he was groggy and took him a while to wake up and warm up once he was up. during his nap (and ours) the doorbell rang. strange, who could be ringing the doorbell in the middle of the day? baba went to check it out. surprise!! it was an old friend, one of our nearest and dearest that came to visit. wow! so nj was also surprised when he got up from his nap. surprise, nj, it's one of your uncles... remember him? once he was fully awake, he kept going up to uncle to show him his books and cars. he warmed up to him fast. thanks again for coming by and always thinking of us.
book raid
no surprise, he found the box of books pretty quickly. he of coarse went straight for all the books having to do with vehicles. it was quiet for a while in the living room until he comes running over to show us book after book that he was excited about. so happy he loves them.
mr. snuggly
nj and baba sat together for a little bit just to relax before getting ready for dinner. he was glued to us today. he followed us closely, wanting to be near us, sit with us, and hold our hands. he was also whiney, poor guy is still sick. it was cute, but it's hard to try and keep from getting sick (or more sick) from him.
"mama, smell my feet..."
actually, it started out as, "want to smell my feet". then, "baba, smell my feet". and then mama... my response, "hey, i don't want to smell your feet!" he giggles. i suppose if i were to smell his feet, this would be the time to do it, right after his shower. he wanted me to see his shorts with cars on it. "so beautiful" he says. what? what boy says that? except maybe about girls or what girls are wearing maybe. not about what they're wearing. i know exactly who's influence that was! i said, "no, baby, it's cool. your car pants are cool". he repeated "cool" with a smile. then he proceeded to show me his belly. ha, ha, love his little pot belly.

more old school books
another box of books, yay! thank you to auntie susan who stopped by with them yesterday. i got to look through them before nj could get to them. great books! he's really going to love all the ones about trucks, trains, and work vehicles. and i love the ones that teach numbers, words, and sounds. it might be time for another book rotation.
oh, buster
last thursday i found him in a dusty, dirty old cardboard box in the garage with some shoes and books. my mom said she was donating it. buster too?! awww, i have a soft spot for buster. fond memories since he was my brother's growing up. i was always jealous that he had buster, i thought he was so cute. and perry used to make him dance and do all kinds of cute stuff. why would she be throwing him away? she said that nj doesn't like the tiger, that he said to take it away. but i brought him home and threw him in nj's laundry basket. right away, nj wanted him and said, "ah-goo's tiger. want it." i told him that the tiger needs to be washed first. he's nice and clean now, ready for hugging. i'm not sure why he says thing like that to my mom. and i'm not sure why she listens to him! he obviously does like buster. a while back my mom asks me why he says he's scared of giraffes. how should i know? he's never said that to us! and he doesn't have a problem with giraffes in his books he has here. i think sometimes he just says stuff to her just to say it and she listens! oh well.
a couple days ago, nj brought his book to baba to show him. he said, "car, baba, look..." while pointing to the cactus. baba corrected him by saying that it was cactus, but nj insisted. when he looked closer, he realized what nj was talking about. then he showed me, it took me a second too. do you see it? ha, ha, our son is smarter than us! he knows what cactus is, so it surprised us. whenever he sees cactus he says, "ee-buh's (great aunt) house has cactus". he did that to me too a while back when we first gave him these books. he pointed to the helicopter and said, "car". i told him, no that's a helicopter (even though he knows what a helicopter is, i was wondering why he'd say it was a car). then i looked again and realized there was a car inside the helicopter, i didn't even notice.
a day without nj was really quiet. he stayed at grandma's for my clinic day plus he's still sick. now i'm fighting the sniffles. :( but i got to spend a little time with our other baby, dotty. poor dot dot doesn't get nearly as much attention as she should. we also got the chance to spend time with some old friends i grew up with. it's been quite a few years since seeing them, it was nice to reconnect.

still sniffly
this is the face he's been making as snot is streaming from his nose. he does it all day long.
he was still his happy self, though. poor kid, kept getting told by baba to stay away from me. it's so sad to have to stay away from him, but hopefully he'll be better soon.Tuesday, July 26, 2011
sniff, sniff
our little someone woke up with the sniffles. i tried my best to stay away from him but i'm not feeling that great. hopefully i'm able to rest it off. baba suctioned his nose and rubbed him down with some vapor rub before bedtime. we don't want it getting any worse. this is my fear of him going to school. i want him to learn and socialize, he would love it. but i'm scared of what he may bring home. it was already a concern before, but now that i still have recovering to do it scares me more. it's not so much the common cold, but other scary stuff i hear mothers talk about. at the same time, i can't exactly live in fear. he's going to school at some point.
i asked him how he liked my hair cut. he said, "it's nice. mama, you look pretty." awww, what a charmer. finally, i chopped the long overgrown mess of my hair. haven't done anything with it since getting it permed last year, probably around this time. i absolutely hated how long it was while being sick, it was such a hassle. now it's nice and light and feels so much better! nj is next once he's feeling better. he's somewhere between the old man sweep and emo look. in his sunday class there was a boy who's hair was long in the back and the rest was a mohawk. so cool! can't pull that off with nj i don't think. we're not sure what kind of "look" he has. seeing that kid made me think about it and nj doesn't really have one. not that he needs to (or that we care), he's a little boy. a little boy should look like a little boy. we don't really dress him in a certain way, all his clothes have been from other generous families. i guess we'll have to see how his opinion develops once he has one. that'll be interesting!

"I want more apple, please"
it wasn't: "want apple" or "more please". a full normal sentence. when I gave him more he said, "mmm, it's good. thank you."

hope! we were a little late, but didn't miss any of the message.
he loves this yogurt drink, most sundays the ladies tell us he's had two. there were lots of kids today and more helpers than we've seen before. we told them that he had underwear on. as we picked him up, we asked if them if he went to the bathroom. they said no, but asked him several times just in case. and he pointed out a potty seat to them saying that's what he'd use if he needed to go.
ooh, it's auntie becca! a little someone has missed you and has been thinking of you! at long last, the awaited hugs, kisses, and tickles.
"baba talking to neighbor, gardener!"
funny, we corrected him so many times about calling the gardeners neighbors that he corrects himself. he was even more interested in what was going on since today they did the back yard. he constantly notified us of what they were doing and what was going on.
