I found this old coloring calendar of his and the only month colored was June for some reason. It was very colorful!
The whole family is at work. Baba is cleaning the floor.
Ah-ma is wiping the furniture.
NJ is wiping the glass.
We brought him his hot wheel track to play with.
He put it together by himself. No instructions, no help, not bad.
I was impressed. NJ wanted to call Baba to tell him. It was cute and nice that he wanted to tell him right away.

Mother's Tea

It's the last day of teacher's appreciation week. Everyone is bringing flowers for their teachers.
It's also the day for Mother's Tea. We painted flowers, had tea, pastries, bagels, and took photos together. It was very sweet.
Our first night home. NJ and Dotty are not home yet until we have things in order. It is still really dusty and dirty, there is stuff everywhere for them to get into. I think our new headache and madness has just begun.
Our plan is to clean, organize, put away, give away, store away, everything room by room. We decided to start with NJ's room and stuff so that he can come back and stay while we work on the rest of the rooms and house. And there's less questioning that he'll do and looking through stuff. I had to take a photo of his first robeez and shoes. So cute and can't believe the size of his shoes now. Went by fast. It's hard to go through stuff. So many memories and meaningful things. But it's still just stuff, can't keep it all.

Unpacking

The day to unpack is here! Our house is starting to look more like a home again. Even better with all the new improvements. Seeing all our stuff makes us feel like we have way too much! It was overwhelming. Now to go through it all as we put it away. It's going to be a long, painful, necessary process. For now, we are enjoying how nice everything still looks because our house is coming back together and we haven't cluttered it yet!
I noticed some ants around Mom's trash can. She wanted to find the source. NJ was on the job. He got a flashlight (even with all the lights on, it wasn't bright enough to see) to find it. And he did. So sweet and helpful.

Out goes the only carpet we have in the house.
And in goes the extra flooring from our side room. It seemed like enough to cover our bedroom so why not have it done too.
We had no idea there was laminate underneath. There's a surprise at everything uncovered!
Interesting. Hope that holds, that's new paint on the walls.
Working on his homework.
Now working on his build and then clean up.

Weekend with Friends

Yesterday we celebrated our friend's 40th with a surprise party. NJ was so excited about it being a surprise and got really into it. We followed Uncle Dan and Auntie Becca home to stay with them. Baba had a weekend job and Dotty was with Mom. I don't know how I went through the whole day without photos, but I did. We had such a nice stay with them and great sleep. NJ had fun with his Uncle and Auntie. And I had a nice relaxing time just catching up with them. When NJ went to bed first, Auntie and I stayed up and talked for a while. It felt just like the way we used to sit around, hang out, and talk. We appreciated their hospitality and and company.
This morning we took a ride together to church. He looks like a handsome boy and so big.
After church we went home with our friends again. They were nice enough to take me and NJ home. It was sweet of them to invite us in to hang out for a bit. The kids played while the moms drank coffee and talked. I love seeing (and using) this mug, so many memories attached to it.
I couldn't believe it. I showed them one of our wedding photos when we were at my mom's. We had a couple copies and they said they wanted one. I thought they were joking and didn't realize one was actually taken. And here it is. It was strange, funny, and also very sweet to see it on their wedding photo frame! It makes me think about how we meet different people at different times in our life, yet everyone has their significance. We didn't know each other when we got married, we weren't at each other's weddings yet we are now such a part of each other's lives. It's funny, amazing, it's God. I'm thankful for everyone that we have in our life. Friends old, new, past, present, near, far... Where would we be without them?
