Baba made some delicious waffles again! We got some fresh strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries yesterday to top them. We were all very happy to eat them.
NJ disappeared and came back to show us something he wrote: NJ loves his Dad and his Mom.
So sweet!
He's loving his watch. It makes me wonder where his yoda one is. I don't remember where it's packed! We have yet to go through all of his boxes after we moved.
A repeat of last night's soup was warmly welcomed. NJ loved it and had three bowls!
We all had some cake for dessert, there's still half a cake from yesterday. He wanted the one with peach on top (he kept calling it mango). I asked him if he wanted the kiwi I had. He was very adamant about not wanting it. He kept shaking his head no, but wasn't saying anything. So I teased him say, "So you want the kiwi? You do? It's so good isn't it? I know you want it."
He laughed and said, "I'm shaking my head!"
I convinced him to take the kiwi by saying he could have another slice. He was so happy about the deal to get another piece. The funny thing is, he couldn't even finish his slice. There was one bite left and he refused saying he's too full. I asked him, "I thought you wanted another piece. Don't you want more cake? Wouldn't you want cake for breakfast, lunch, and dinner?"
He says, "No! That's too sweet, too much sugar! Just once in a while. Like for special times."
Ha, ha, he's sounding like me.
NJ wanted to play some games. This one's fun except that when it falls it's so loud!

I won two games of chutes and ladders, but he won at candy land. He a few celebratory fist pumps.

I told him candy land had to be our last game because it was bedtime.
NJ: "What? It is? (he checks his watch) Oh yeah. It is."
He's been telling us what time it was all day, it made us laugh.

Preoccupied with building his superhero set.
Wow, a Batman clock and Batman watch!
So sweet, Uncle and Auntie made his favorite soup!
Ooh, fun toys! Brings back memories of when NJ played with them. I still remember exactly who gave them to him too.
So cute, both digging through the box of mega blocks. NJ was making stuff to give to baby to take apart. Ha, ha. We had a box of toys just like that for NJ at this age. he used to love digging in it and we'd laugh every time he'd tip inside of it. I miss this!
Awww, what a sweet surprise! A whole big birthday cake, thank you!
As if that wasn't enough sugar, we also had some fondue. Yum. What a blessing to have such loving friends, Uncles, and Aunties. A little celebration goes a long way, he loved it!

My early alarm worked out well, I managed to be up before him. I went in to snuggle up with him. He really wanted to get up, I convinced him to stay in the room a bit longer. I was in his bed, he laid down on his bench. It was a bit too early, but couldn't hold him that long.
With his pj's on and super hero cape, he gathered his gifts and balloons.
He was more excited about collecting the balloons than the gifts itself.
He was surprised to get his first super heroes and Star Wars sets. Everything so far has been Lego City and a couple of Lego Movie. Oh boy, it's a start of something new. He's gotten into super hero and Star Wars stuff since starting this new school. He plays it at school with his friends.
He started building right away while I made him his favorite for breakfast, scrambled eggs.
He put the balloons behind him while he had breakfast. It was the perfect backdrop for a photo.

We thought it would be nice to take a photo for his birthday. These stairs are right in front of his classroom. I noticed them the first day and see them everyday. I always thought it would be great for photos. Now we can do one for every year he's here. This first step has six through ten.
We went to his class early to hand out goody bags for the kids. He showed off the silver star he earned today. He had a substitute today, I hope he wasn't sad about not having his teacher, he loves her!
He started back on his set when he got home.
After his shower, Baba helped with it (not that he needs it, he doesn't really like help usually).
We asked him what he wanted for dinner and I could've guessed... Go Go Sushi. I've never been inside, we usually get it to go since it's up the street from us. He was very excited! We ran into our next door neighbor there and sat and talked with them.
After, we went for a quick visit to Uncle and Auntie's for a bit.
NJ did his super hero set while we went to listen to Auntie's speech. He finished it in no time and got to play with it until it was time to go.

The days have been a busy blur. Baba got six balloons at the dollar store close by. This was all they had, mismatched, but that's ok. We put a trail of them through the house, his normal morning route. After he went to bed we snuck around putting balloons with gifts (only one from us, the rest were from other Aunties and Uncles). We started outside of his room, one in the middle of the stairs, one at his small table, one in the middle of the kitchen, at the dining table, and then the coffee table. I brought my camera upstairs to have it handy and set my alarm extra early so that I could be sure to wake up before him. Excited about seeing him find them all.

Baba got us some dinner from the market before he had to go to his meeting. He was very excited about sushi!
We got a special visitor who was (although tired) nice enough to play a couple games with NJ and hang out a bit.

Time to bring in our shoeboxes full of goodies. Every year we do one for a girl and one for a boy. NJ gets into it too. Now he can start writing letters to include.
NJ was pretty excited about this ship he built. He wanted me to take a picture.
NJ was coloring and I was asking why Handy Manny was brown. Baba said because he is.
Finished an order today. It's been a while, my first since setting up my new office!
Snacking on some bread and looking at books he likes.
