"It was like totally blue!"

We spent some family time together doing errands and walking around a shopping center. It was really nice to relax and have that time, but being around all the shops just made me want to go to yard sales. No time for that today. On the road, NJ likes to point out cars, especially classic cars. When I said I missed it he told me, "It was like totally blue!" Must've picked that up from school?

"I'm trying to do something and you're distracting me."

NJ's been wanting me to help him build every possible thing you can build with the sets that he has. When we're done he flips through the instructions, finds another, and says, "Now this one!" Oh dear, we would be building legos all day everyday if he had it his way.
NJ isn't as interested in practicing his letters the way he used to be, but we still encourage him to as much as possible.
Spontaneous picnic lunch play date. Fun! And great to get some fresh air, it was nice and warm today.

When did my son become a teenager? The memorable things he said today...
"I'm trying to do something and you're distracting me."
"Mama, I'm like totally finished."

A Lesson in Symmetry

We've been letting NJ pour his drinks. He's been getting his own water for longer than I can remember from the fridge door, but I didn't think about him pouring anything. I picked him up from school one time and he was pouring his own drink. I was impressed and wondered why I never thought of letting him do that. Even if I did, I'm sure I'd stop myself just at the thought of what a mess it might be.
I can't remember how it came up, but NJ wanted to know what symmetrical was. So Baba was trying to explain to him by using his face as an example of symmetry. It made him laugh, but I'm not sure how much NJ learned.

I missed this face! Great weekend and a nice end to it to see my boys again.
