what's baba doing?

free flu shots. every year at the hospital my mom worked at, they have free flu shots for one day. baba and ah-ma (grandma) both went to get one. but not me... i couldn't reach anyone to figure out if it was safe or not. even baba wasn't getting one unless it was not a live virus. we have to remember the same for nj for his upcoming appointment. we have to be especially careful this year about going out and being around any sickness. i'm scared!
and oh my, what happened to your hair?! did grandma cut your hair again? he said, "yes" and then "hair cut" in taiwanese. ugh, why?!! isn't it hint enough that i always get upset when his hair is randomly chopped without asking?!

"where's my red leaf?"

what red leaf? it almost sound like deef, so i wasn't sure. he told me the whole story of him walking and finding the leaf, then picking it up. he brought it home to show me. then i tried to explain fall to him, the leaves changing colors and falling on the ground... but he clearly wasn't very interested because he rode away on trike as i was talking. oh well!

we didn't get to see our baby today. we got up before he did and were so beat, that he stayed with grandma. our day started at 4:30am and we didn't get home until 4:30pm! hopefully we'll be recovered enough tomorrow to spend some quality time with nj. i really missed not seeing him, he better have been good while we were away!

mama: "choc-o-late chip, baby!"
nj: "like the peanuts."
mama: "walnuts, baby."
nj: "i like the walmart."
oh dear.

"we going to lunch with auntie janell"

smile! look with your face, not your eyes!

that's better!

aaaahhhhmmmm....

you're so funny, auntie! thank you for the dragon and the cars book.

"i like the library"

no fish in the pond today. he ran his hand on the top of the surrounding concrete. i told him not to because it's dirty. after circling the entire pond/fountain, he showed me his hands and made that face he makes. great! i told you it was dirty... well, with perfect timing, auntie shows up and she was kind enough to spare a wipe! thank you, auntie! just before getting the wipe, he tried to wipe his hands on my pants. thanks!

for me? sorry, di-di, it's some tea and boba for the tired mommies...

ooh, so much goldfish, how do i get it to my mouth? thanks for sharing your goldfish, guh-guh!

"i want to see the dolphins." he didn't want to get close this time, though. he ran himself up the stairs to see from the bars overlooking the fountain. from there, he waved to auntie and baby.

"look at that one!"

nj and me... our first time out together, just him and me! i picked him up in the afternoon to a trip to the library for about an hour. we met his ah-ee (auntie), di-di (little brother/baby connor), and guh-guh (big brother/cameron). he's been asking for a while to go. randomly, he'd talk about going to see fish and dolphins with baby connor. it was nice to finally take him and see him enjoy it so much.

awww, the sweet love of a brother...

nj was all over his guh-guh and di-di today! a little too much, actually... to the point that he was quite bothersome. he'd insist on constantly touching baby connor. he was either staring at him, putting his arm around trying to hug him, holding his hand or grabbing his feet. and with cameron, he kept leaning on him as they sat to look at a book together, he kept trying to grab him, hold his hand, or hug him. sheesh, i had to ask him to stop bothering them while trying to thank him for being loving and affectionate. it's cute how much he seems to love them, but it's too much! the poor boys were so nice about him being glued to them. thinking out loud i said, "man, you need a sibling!" maybe i shouldn't have said that. but i asked him again if he wanted a brother or sister. he said brother (again). i don't know about that one! i told him he has to wait awhile until i'm better. ha, ha.

wow, it's nj sized!

ha, ha... who knew? he really had to go in the middle of me reading a book to him and guh-guh. i took him to the bathroom in the children's section, and it was the smallest, lowest, cute little toilet (if you could call a toilet cute, that is)! everything was just his height, how funny. afterwards, i went to tell his ah-ee. she laughed and asked if i took a picture. i said, "of coarse i did, i had to!"

more blueberry pancakes

i got out a plate this morning to warm up the pancakes from yesterday. nj saw and said, "i need a plate too!"
also while eating breakfast: "no squirrel today, they all eating pancakes and bread."
and: "i wearing black socks, mama wear pink socks, baba didn't wear socks."

nj always want to help! baba was cutting paper and nj was happy to catch and pick up the pieces. when he was done, he said to baba, "baba get the rest!" and with the pieces that needed to be kept, nj thought they were dirty from being on the floor so he said, "we need to rinse it."

morning family outing

i thought he was so cute in his guh-guh's sweater (thank you auntie ellen!). i've never been to castle green, even though we lived nearby for so many years! beautiful architecture. nj liked the pond and waving at the fish. ha, ha.

ready to see your girlfriend, handsome boy?

he told us the whole story of playing play-do, cars, eating jello, banana, yogurt, granola, and listening to a bible story. today was the tower of babel, which i guess they were also building with the jello, banana, and yogurt. of coarse, our son eats it instead!

artistic interpretation

i offered nj a pen to draw on the paper table cover during lunch. he was hesitant because i always say not to draw on our table. i explained that this was paper on the table. then he had fun drawing. i asked him what it was he drew. my guesses were, the top view of a toaster or nostrils. he wasn't amused, he just kept drawing. he was just content drawing and then eating with uncle dan and auntie becca!

will anyone stay still for a photo?!

tonight, baba and i were both on our computers working while nj played in the room with us. we both just kept laughing to ourselves and looking at each other... nj seemed like he was having the greatest time with his trucks and cars. he was making all kinds of funny noises and talking to himself, "beep, beep, beep... woaw... oh my goodness... hook... this one go fast!" i loved watching and hearing him play. it was one of those moments that i imagined i'd love when becoming a mother. it was the simple joy of enjoying him.
