Last Friday was the first day the class joined the big kids out at Friday assembly in the yard. I totally missed it of course. They'll be doing this for the rest of the year to get used to it for next year.
I stuck around for a bit, I was taking a picture of NJ and he and his friend wanted one together. How cute.
The kids were asked to make birthday cards for Alexander Hamilton's birthday with some facts about the man. I spotted NJ's up on the board at the front of the school.
He's really studying this catalogue hard.
We played a couple games of Guess Who. NJ left his on Dotty. Poor Dot. I told him to come back to put it away.

NJ asked if he could do some pages from a work book. Of course you can! I didn't realize until he asked me to check it that he was doing a second grade one. He did a pretty good job. When I explained the instructions, he knew exactly what to do and what the answers were. Who knew, ha, ha.
During dinner he was doing knock-knock jokes again. They never make any sense, he just makes them up and laughs hysterically as if we don't get it. But he said he learned one from Abigail at school today:
Knock, knock
Who's there?
Persa
Persa who?
Perseverance, I'm going to keep knocking until you open!
That one we did really laugh at because it made sense! And neither of us had heard that one before. We started asking him about Abigail. He said she sits next to him, they help each other spell out words and with writing. I asked what he likes about Abigail and before he said anything Baba says, "She's pretty! Right?! Right?!"
He's nudging NJ while NJ turns totally red, covers his face, and gets suddenly quiet. Ha, ha, ha! We had a good laugh with that one. He did say that she's smart, nice, and funny. She has the nicest writing in the whole class, it looks perfectly neat and pretty.
