Beach and Birthday

NJ was content just playing in the sand again. I tried to get him to dip his feet in the water, but one touch of the freezing water and he was done.

NJ loved that he got to have ice cream cake and take a few swings at the piƱata (not to mention the goodies that came out of it)!

"Are my friends coming back?"

NJ met some new friends today, the adorable boys of an old friend of Mama's. It's been a few years since we've seen each other, but it's always great to catch up in person. Seeing her today brought back memories of my old Buick LeSabre, boba milk tea addiction, sharing noodles, and being way too giggly over everything. Oh, but I can't forget adolescent drama. If only we knew back then that life turns out ok as adults. Now we're moms! Ha, such great memories though... Nice to make some new ones with our boys. NJ had so much fun, they shared the love for cars and trains (as most boys this age).
We took an after dinner walk. I tried to take a picture of NJ and Dotty, but she didn't want to be near NJ as usual. I was giving up and about to put the camera away when NJ grabs Dot Dot's head and says, "Mama!" I quickly snapped a pic so that he'd let go of poor Dot Dot's head. Oh dear. NJ reminded me as usual to bring bags on our walk. He saw me grab four and said, "Four? Is that enough?" I don't get what his big concern is with Dotty pooping. Always asking why she's not going yet or when she does he asks why she doesn't need to again. And he stares when she's going, walking around to look at every angle. What's the fascination he has with her poop?

"Just tell me what you want and I will get it for you."

Ready for swim class again? Both Baba and I had long talks with him about listening, paying attention, not being scared or timid, trying, and participating. I tried to prep talk him before his first lesson, but maybe it wasn't enough. Today I told him that if he did better I'd give him a sticker (for his chart) and take him any place he wanted. NJ either was more comfortable today, the extra talks helped, or knowing there was a reward made for a much better class. Such a difference from yesterday! He didn't do everything, but at least he tried and he was a good listener. Not just splashing around and not paying attention. I was so much happier than yesterday!
These swim lessons through the community are at my old high school. Feels really strange to be there, I hated high school! (Not the best years of my life.) I had never even been to the pool and couldn't find it yesterday. Good thing I spotted a few people in swim wear walking.
After we got home, he got a bath and lunch. Right after his swim he said, "I'm so hungry."
We didn't have much in the fridge, but we managed a decent meal.
I asked him where he wanted to go for doing so much better in swim today. NJ chose the park, so we went in the evening when it was cooler. He was so happy and got a kick out of me climbing up there with him. I don't remember the last time I did that, since he was really little. So glad I'm feeling well enough to do it!
We stopped on the way home for some groceries. He insisted on carrying the basket for me and said, "Just tell me what you want and I will get it for you." And of coarse he tries to sneak in stuff that he wants. I had to keep telling him, "Put that back!" He says, "But we need it!" Umm, no we don't!

Ah-gong was very thoughtful to bring us some Taiwanese breakfast this morning. Yum, great stuff! And so nice to spend a little time together.

Celebrating Baby

I love celebrating babies! (Not us, our friend's baby.) Another fun day with the family and friends. We hope everyone else had fun too. All the planning and preparing worked out great, it just would have been nice if more people were there to appreciate it and celebrate with us. I was just happy to do it for a dear friend and we can't wait for the baby to arrive! :)
