Ready for swim class again? Both Baba and I had long talks with him about listening, paying attention, not being scared or timid, trying, and participating. I tried to prep talk him before his first lesson, but maybe it wasn't enough. Today I told him that if he did better I'd give him a sticker (for his chart) and take him any place he wanted. NJ either was more comfortable today, the extra talks helped, or knowing there was a reward made for a much better class. Such a difference from yesterday! He didn't do everything, but at least he tried and he was a good listener. Not just splashing around and not paying attention. I was so much happier than yesterday!
These swim lessons through the community are at my old high school. Feels really strange to be there, I hated high school! (Not the best years of my life.) I had never even been to the pool and couldn't find it yesterday. Good thing I spotted a few people in swim wear walking.
After we got home, he got a bath and lunch. Right after his swim he said, "I'm so hungry."
We didn't have much in the fridge, but we managed a decent meal.
I asked him where he wanted to go for doing so much better in swim today. NJ chose the park, so we went in the evening when it was cooler. He was so happy and got a kick out of me climbing up there with him. I don't remember the last time I did that, since he was really little. So glad I'm feeling well enough to do it!
We stopped on the way home for some groceries. He insisted on carrying the basket for me and said, "Just tell me what you want and I will get it for you." And of coarse he tries to sneak in stuff that he wants. I had to keep telling him, "Put that back!" He says, "But we need it!" Umm, no we don't!
