"Woaw, Train!"

The sun was in his eyes.
He fits in a carry on!
Cargo train. He was so excited about the first train, he wouldn't even turn around.
Now a passenger train!
"Wow, we saw one, two, three, four, five, six trains!" Too bad it was so hot today, we were sweating and baking in the sun. We'll have to visit again. Why didn't I think of taking him here before? He was so excited about seeing trains, watching them go by, watching passengers get on and off... I think his mind was blown because for the rest of the day, non stop, he talked about it and asked question after question. Some I didn't even know how to answer.
A trip to get some groceries. NJ usually wants to sit in the cart, but today he discovered riding on the front of the cart. My mistake. That's not happening anymore! After waking up on Friday with a runny nose and cough, we've been staying in. Today I had to get him out somewhere. He has too much energy to keep him at home, even with a mild cold. So far, I've avoided getting it and hope to keep it that way.

Welcome Back Ah-ma!

We picked up Ah-ma (grandma) from the airport and had a welcome back dinner together. We missed you! On the way to dinner NJ said he saw a train. Then Baba pointed out the metro link along the freeway. NJ says, "They stop to pick up the people waiting? To go home or somewhere?" Yes, or somewhere!
On the way home, there was a nice sunset. I pointed out that the sky was pink. NJ says, "And orange. And yellow and blue. But I don't know why there's no green and why there's no purple."

"I like girls"

A little after school snack with sorbet, he got to lick the scoop.
Mmm... spaghetti! His shirt came off before it got stained in orange.
He asked me today: "Are you a girl, Mama?" -Yes
"Is Baba a girl?" -No
"Why not? I want every body to be a girl. I like girls."
Wasn't sure what to say to that!

"I'm walking there?"

"We making cheesecake, Mama?!"
My boys are so helpful.
"The Best Pet of All"  NJ loves this story.

Usually I'm at the door with him as he's putting on his shoes. But I was grabbing something in the kitchen when Baba says, "Ok, be good at Ah-ma's (grandma's) house."
And I hear NJ say, "I'm walking there?" Baba and I both laughed.
Baba said, "Yeah, so be careful of cars. Look out for signs before crossing streets. Watch where you're going. You know how to get there?"
NJ says, "But I don't want to walk, it's too far! My feet will hurt..."
I came over to grab the keys and said, "Don't worry, Mama will take you. You silly..."

NJ and Godsister

Let's see... where should we go?
"Hi penguins, hi!"
Walrus butt... that's all we could see! NJ is excited none the less!
Wow, whale!
NJ was trying to bite her arm and bags of snacks with the whale head. Put it back!

How cute are these two happy little ones?
Bouncing and tumbling around together.
NJ wanted to take a photo, he was even ok taking one by himself. He gave hugs and high fives all around. He said, "I want to show Elmo my car." and pulls one out of his pocket. I didn't even know he had been carrying one with him! And as we're walking away he says, "Bye Elmo! See you tomorrow!" It's funny how the background has changed into fall/halloween when the weather is still like summer. Doesn't feel like fall yet at all.
Getting close up with the sting rays and touching them as they swim by. They loved it!
A really relaxing day with family. We have been terrible God parents and have not seen our Goddaughter for more than two years! We've missed them so much... so glad to be reunited after a rough 2011 for all of us and then recovery this 2012. Can't wait to spend more time with them again. It's amazing how much both kids have grown and changed. And how much our lives have all changed. Seeing them reminds us of how challenging life can be but also how gracious and faithful God can be. Life is never simple, but that's why we all have each other.
