An early Christmas dinner with our little group. Actually we're missing three, but they are busy adjusting to each other at home. Hopefully they can rejoin us again soon, we missed them. We had a yummy dinner of ham, brussels sprouts, corn, yams, rice, and cheese pizza. After dinner we opened gifts and took some photos together. The kids had a great time playing and the parents laughed way too much. So much fun!

Baking with Auntie
NJ was so excited about Auntie Nicole coming over. We had dinner together and after we brought out the baking supplies again. NJ wanted to lay down on the couch. I thought it was odd especially knowing we were going to bake. He never wants to miss that. Especially the taste testing. Even before Auntie showed up, I could hear him in the kitchen from my room shouting: "Yes! Mama, we're gonna bake! Yaaaaaaaay!"
We thought he'd just lay down a while, but we heard him talking to himself and moving a lot. I could tell he was going to fall asleep soon. And sure enough, he knocks out. So odd, I was very surprised and worried he was sick or something.
Auntie and I baked our blueberry muffins (except we couldn't find fresh blueberries, so we used raspberries). Soooo yummy! We added some green sprinkles to add to the reddish color of the berries to make it Christmasy.
I thought that all the noise or at least the aroma of the baked muffins would stir him, but nothing! He was done for the night! It was funny to see Auntie's reactions to him sleeping. I guess I'm used to it, but it is pretty cute. His puckered lips, heavy breathing, dramatic tossing and turning...

NJ finally got his treat he begged for on Saturday. He ate it too fast to even take a photo! But his chocolate cover mouth and sticky stick is proof enough of that chocolate covered marshmallow.
He was being so good and ate all his dinner nicely. So when he asked for a hot chocolate I was happy to see him enjoy it. While watching him drink it I was thinking about how much he's changing, how challenging it sometimes is and how I think we've been able to adjust. He's been listening better, seems happier, we notice his attitude change.
After dinner he went straight to coloring with a purpose. He said he promised his teacher that he would give her one and it would make her happy. It's sweet how much he loves her.

It's super cold! For us anyway... we're not used to mornings that are 37 degrees. We've bundled him pretty good, but I'm sure he'll be hot and sweaty by recess.
It's the last night for my book group with the ladies so I scrambled to finish up a gift for the girls. Again, thanks to my creative and crafty best friend who shared the idea of personalizing mugs, I came up with these. Wouldn't have created these without it. Turned out better than I imaged, but did a lot of re-dos.

"Why is Baba and Ah-gong on the roof?"
We were a mess today. I can't seem to keep up with so much going on. The mail, laundry, and dishes have piled up, the house is a mess, I feel like I'm behind on everything. Hopefully there's rest for me in the near future, I'm running on empty.
We managed to get out for a quick lunch for our friends who were off to have a baby tonight. It was sweet that they wanted to see us and we got to pray for them before we parted ways. Can't wait to meet the little guy.

On the way there, NJ was making us laugh by telling us his thoughts and singing his own songs. He saw a traffic light with only two lights instead of three and said: "Hey mini traffic light! That's funny! Only small traffic lights are funny to me not big traffic lights."
And he said: " That's salami where Ah-ma got me the trucks."
I had no idea what he was talking about until I realized we were passing my old community college and he was talking about the swap meet. But he must call it salami based on the way my mom says it. She bought him a big truck that he loves. He also wanted to sing a song about the boat parade, changing the words to Oh Christmas Tree... "Oh boat, boat, boat. Oh boat, boat, boat. How lovely are your lights..."
We just got here, but the adventure has already begun. We pull up to my dad with a ladder looking to climb it. Baba offered to up instead, but Ah-gong was right behind him. He wanted to check the lights that weren't working. They were up there for a while and I didn't leave until they came back down. NJ had lots of questions about that of coarse. He called up to them too to see if they'd answer.
Cool, it's fixed and they're on their way down!
This brings back memories of when he first moved here and recruited us (Baba, Ah-goo, and I) to help put up Christmas lights. Every year there's something new added.
The parade starts and NJ loves watching as he always does. I didn't stay out long it was cold.
NJ and Ah-gong both in their sweaters.
With my big happy boy.
With Ah-goo.
NJ got a gift from one of our relatives. I thought it was the coolest, cutest thing and he loved it! It's picking up little pieces of tofu blocks with chopsticks. It's all in Japanese, but she tried to explain the instructions to us. I may have to get some of my Japanese friends' help. For now, he's practicing his chopstick skills, it's great!
Ah-goo is playing now too. How fun!
I was very sad not to make it to our church's first annual Christmas lighting. We even invited a bunch of people, but couldn't go! But it was good to be there for Ah-gong and spend time with family. Maybe it'll work out next year.
