"It's in the trash."

The plumber is in the attic putting in the pipes. There's a boot hanging from the ceiling.
It's strange to see everything exposed.
Four old hornets nests above our vanity area in our room.
Such odd wall coverings that were covered by paneling, grass and leaves.
When I picked him up from school I asked him where he wanted to go (I figured we'd go out for a bit). He said, "Toys- ah- us."
Before I had the chance to say anything he interrupted with: "I won't ask to buy anything! I just want to look. I want to see the boxes, I promise."
M- "Ok, but Mama's going to get some coffee first and when we get home be ready to work on homework."
We had a deal.
I let him take his time looking in a couple different aisles. He was very good, wasn't touching everything and pulling on stuff, quiet, and intent on studying the boxes.
NJ did such a great job working on his homework, I was so proud. He took his time to write, color, and cut nicely. We got it done so much faster than I anticipated which is great!
We had a mix of leftovers for dinner. He was eating the pasta way too fast. I kept telling him: one at a time and slow down!
At bedtime after praying, we talked about how he can try harder at school. I was talking specifically about their classroom clip up system. He says to me, "But what if I can't ever get any higher?"
M- "You can't say that, think it, or believe it. You can always try harder and do better. Don't ever tell yourself you can't. That's not the right attitude to have."
NJ- "Got it. It's in the trash."
M- "What?"
NJ- "I threw it away, it's in the trash. I took it from my mind and I put it in the trash so it's gone already."
Well, ok!
